Our New Port Richey campus is home to the staff members that may not always be heard of. The employees whose jobs are imperative to keep our schools running, but whose work is done behind the scenes. Andrea Thomspon is one of those critical employees. Without her our insurance would be a mess, our bills wouldn’t get paid ( that includes payroll ), and who knows what else would fall apart. This month we are featuring Andrea to give her some much deserved recognition and praise. We asked her some questions about her time here with us, and here is what she had to say!
Tell me how you first got involved in with Bene’s Career Academy .
I met the Bene' s when they came to sign Zach up for middle school at Genesis Prep. I have always believed in supporting the parents of the school who own businesses. I have been a client since Bene's International School of beauty opened.
What do you wish other people knew about Bene’s Career Academy?
I am often asked where I go to get my hair done. When I tell them, people aren't as open to the idea as if I had named a local salon. I wish more of the public realized what a great school we are and they will get professional results at a great price. I've gone to other salons over the past 13 years, for convenience, and have always come back to Bene's.
When your friends/family find out that you work at Bene’s Career Academy, what do they say or ask?
Their first reaction is " that is so cool, that must be fun". Of course they think we can get services whenever we want. I explain that Mr. Bene is great and lets the teachers use us as live models in the classroom, otherwise we have services done off the clock.
What do you do when you aren’t working?
I am a volunteer for Cindy's Pets and a board member for SPCA Suncoast. I love to garage sale, repurpose items and remodel/redecorate. (Okay, my husband, Mark does all the heavy stuff.) I also like to bake, garden, love being on the water
Tell me about some of the people you’ve met while working at Bene’s Career Academy?
I knew of a few of the teachers from being a client. When I started working for Bene's I was adopted into a new loving family. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I have to send a special thank you to Ms. Mary, Ms. Adrienne, Ms.Joanne, Ottie and Mr. Bracken. There patience and helpfulness will not be forgotten.
It goes without saying that we have a great group of students at the NPR Campus.
If you could change one thing about Bene’s Career Academy, what would it be?
The face of the NPR Campus. I feel we would attract more students and clients if the street view was modernized and looked more like a salon. The building and sign need to pop out at you drive by.
