Barber students, from Bene’s Career Academy, in New Port Richey, had another exciting trip last week. Mr Robert Bridgewater took his students to Whoo’s Next Barber Shop in Tampa. Students were afforded the opportunity to observe and learn from shop owners Joe and Ray Demoulin. Joe is Ray’s father and owner of Attitude plus, while Ray owns Whoo’s Next. The students were able to see how these professionals build relationships with clients and the community, from USF students, to owners, and businessmen. As well as learning skills for customer service, client retention, and technical barber skills. After observing the students were included in Rays “Shop Talk”. “Shop Talk” is something that Ray does at his shop every Tuesday. Ray started the talk for men, to have a place to discuss dealing with problems, and family, being a role model, how to address topics in the community, taking care of manly responsibilities, and having a higher power belief in God and country. These are some great values to instill in the students minds, and the trip was a complete success. Not only did the students have a fun time observing and engaging, they also learned a lot of valuable lessons, in hair, and life.
