Barber Styling

This program is designed to prepare students to work efficiently in the industry of Barber-Styling. This competency-based program includes classroom instruction and practical/lab experience under supervision of the instructor. Practical skills are developed through experience in a school-based, on-site shop which is equipped and managed according to industry standards by the students with instructor supervision

Program Objectives:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the head, neck, and other areas.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of proper safety procedures in the barber shop. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of infection control, decontamination and sanitation of tools. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of shaving, hair cutting, styling, coloring, permanent waving and relaxing techniques. 
  • Demonstrate ability to provide quality customer service to patrons. 
  • Demonstrate shop management skills.

“I’m sorry, I can’t afford to give you that .50 cent raise”…”You can’t have that day off!”…”Sorry, I gave that promotion to Bob”…or “Hey, I’m sorry, your services are no longer required.”  Does any of this sound familiar?  As a professional barber you will enjoy the freedom of being your own boss.  No one else will decide the level of your success.  You will control the level of your income by your work ethic.

This two-step barbering program includes the 1,200 hours of training required to take the Florida state board exam.  The first section includes the basics: Cutting, hair design, and barber training. Step two is spent hands-on in our
​Salon/ Barbershop for real-world experience to help you excel in the day-to-day basics of your career.  

Completion Time -  How long does it take to Graduate?

Full time students attending 25 hours per week complete the program in 48 weeks.  The full time class schedule is Monday -Friday 5:00 pm- 10:00 pm. 

Part time schedule attends 15 hours a week and completes the program in 80 weeks. 

Part Time Schedules:
M-T-W 9:00am-3:00pm or M-Th-F 9:00am-3:00pm
M-T-W 5:00pm-10:00pm or M-Th-F 5:00pm-10:00pm

Part time schedules is available - minimum of 15 hours a week.
The course is broken up into chapters usually lasting one or two weeks.  The teachers utilize a combination of  hands on assignment, computer activities, practices, games, and various multi-media exercises catered for each student.  Progress tests evaluates each student on theory, services completed and practical application of their work. Students are notified prior to these progress tests as to their needs in order to be prepared. An 80% average in each skill must be achieved.
